Nice at CES 2021 — CONNECTIONS™ Summit by Parks Associates

Smart Home and Smart Security enters 2021 riding a high wave of growth experienced during the global pandemic. According to Parks Associates, the number of self-installed (Do it Yourself or DIY) security systems increased 55% in 2020, while professionally installed systems continued its declining trend.

Trends and analysis of 2020 indicate that there was a significant growth in home improvement spending. A recent study of US homeowners, from Porch, highlighted that over three-in-four undertook at least one home improvement project last year, and 78% of homeowners plan to take on one or more projects. Moreover, 44% of those who conducted a project introduced new technology in the home. These figures represent a substantial opportunity for Nice, not only in North America, but also around the world.

The unique market position held by Nice along with subsidiary brands, such as abode, enables the organization to provide single product and complete system offerings through professional and DIY channels. This distinctive characteristic ensures that customers can find the right solution for their specific needs.

Parks Associates held their annual CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES 2021 on Thursday, 14 January 2021, where Nice participated in the discussion. Mark Owen Burson, VP Marketing & Product Management, Nice North America represented the group on the ‘Home Security Growth: DIY and Pro Channels’ panel.

“Today, advances in home security and safety devices offer consumers an increasing array of solutions to help them trade in worry for peace of mind,” writes Parks Associates. “As smart home security devices grow in familiarity, value, and affordability, these alternatives will close the divide from traditional security systems.”

The future of Smart Home innovation will continue to be an evolution of location- and presence-based automations enhanced by Home AI that learn patterns, trends, and interactions to understand users better,” said Mark Owen Burson, in response to a question on CES and what’s in store for the future. “It’s through these innovations that the Smart Home will truly become smarter in a way that helps simplify your everyday movements.
